Abstract

Existing gamification services have features that preclude their use by e-learning tools. Odin is a gamification service that mimics the API of state-of-the-art gamification platforms while adding domain-specific support for educational environments. It allows learning management systems and automated assessment tools to easily integrate gamification concepts such as experience points, levels, badges, achievements, and leaderboards via a clean RESTful interface. This paper describes Odin's architecture, data model, API endpoints, and evaluation within programming education environments.
